Plant Manager Damascus

University qualified engineer, specializing in Production Management and Industrial Quality. I was recruited by Tetra Pak as a Production Engineer. In 2007, I joined Bel in order to take part in an ambitious challenge: Developing the new plant in Damascus to make it an export platform for the Near and Middle East; with the aim to support volume growth and to ensure skills development as well as the deployment of the Corporate Social Responsibility process. As Plant Director, I daily meet the factory teams, operators and technicians and also the departments of Human Resources, Management Control, Buying, Supply Chain and Quality. To ensure consistency of objectives of the Factory and the Group, I also work with Group correspondents according to the different projects and our interactions in the various strategies. My position is both strategic and operational. It requires taking a step back to achieve our objectives and optimize our performance.

Joining the Group represented an opportunity for me to enter a challenge: evolve in a very international environment and with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. While growing in the Group, I also very quickly got the nice surprise of observing that Bel is a large Group that truly manages through its key values, close for me to the family one: cohesion, ethics and enthusiasm. I am proud to be part of a Group with very ambitious objectives, which gives a specific place to people and social responsibility.

Bel has a complete identity with a desire to both really focus on people and give itself the means to succeed at an international level with highly challenging projects. This close relationship between ambitious prospects and human values is one of the strengths of management at BEL, and is in my opinion an opportunity for a young graduate.

The Group has a real and strong Corporate Social Responsibility approach and since Syria is under hydric stress, in 2007 we decided to implement a policy of optimization of our water consumption with the creation of a multi-hierarchical, multi-skilled team. This approach, WASABEL (Water Saving Bel), gives already results very convincing with consumption divided by two for 3 years and continues to unfold. As a factory driver, we will have to highlight this project as part of a seminar on industrial water consumption. The results and the high degree of interest shown by Group Management, the CEO, the VP and our Zone VP, as well as their marks of recognition are a source of pride.
